MindMATHS is operated by Zeekay Enterprises, based in South Africa. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013.

2. What Data We Collect

MindMATHS does NOT collect or store any personal data on our servers. All data is stored locally on your own device using browser localStorage.

The following information may be stored locally on your device:

Learner name, school name, and class
Learning progress scores and quiz results
Day streak and knowledge points
Flash card schedules and spaced-repetition progress
Language preference (English/Afrikaans)
POPIA consent flag

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to MindMATHS or Zeekay Enterprises.

3. Why We Collect It

Local data is used solely to:

Track your learning progress and show your history
Personalise your experience (name, grade, avatar)
Support spaced-repetition flash card scheduling
Display streaks, scores, and readiness reports

4. AI Tutor (Google Gemini)

When you use the MindMATHS AI Tutor, your questions are sent to Google Gemini API for processing. MindMATHS does not store these messages. Google's privacy policy applies to AI Tutor interactions.

The AI Tutor only receives your question text, grade level, and subject. No personally identifiable information is transmitted to Google's API from MindMATHS.

5. Cookies

MindMATHS does not use cookies. We use browser localStorage for local progress tracking only. localStorage data stays on your device and is not sent to any server.

6. Google Analytics

MindMATHS uses Google Analytics (Tracking ID: G-HFJ0P9QYTM) to understand how learners use the platform. Google Analytics may collect anonymised usage data including pages visited, time on site, and device type. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

7. Your POPIA Rights

As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to:

Access your data — all data is stored in your browser's localStorage (accessible via browser developer tools)
Correct your data — update your learner profile at any time via the Learner tab
Delete your data — click the "Reset all data" button on any grade page to permanently delete all locally stored data
Object to processing — you may use MindMATHS without entering any personal information

8. Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device only. It is retained until you:

Use the "Reset all data" button to clear it
Clear your browser's storage or cookies
Uninstall the browser or app

MindMATHS retains no personal data on its servers.

9. Children's Data

MindMATHS is designed for learners from Grade R (approximately age 5) through Grade 12 (approximately age 18). Learners under 18 should use this platform with parental or guardian supervision. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review this privacy policy and assist younger learners with the platform.

No data from learners under 18 is collected on our servers.

10. Third-Party Services

MindMATHS integrates with the following third-party services:

11. Security

Since MindMATHS stores no personal data on its servers, the primary data security responsibility lies with your own device's browser storage. We recommend keeping your browser up to date and using a trusted device.

12. Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of MindMATHS after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
